Taking part in the SURE conference is a good opportunity to build confidence and gain valuable presentation聽skills at BU. Employers are increasingly looking for transferable skills in addition to specific subject knowledge, so this experience makes a great addition to your CV or聽future job application. Not only will you get the chance to showcase your research, you'll be able to learn more about the research undertaken by fellow students across聽other faculties and get a taster of what聽further research after your degree may look like.

BA (Hons) Public Relations graduate Balint Brunner explains how he became involved in the SURE Conference in 2019 and how it led to him presenting at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research:

If you're an undergraduate student or聽recent graduate and you would like to take part in the SURE conference this year, please complete an聽abstract submission form聽and return it to聽[email protected]. Please ensure that you聽include your faculty聽in the email subject line. These聽guidance notes聽should help with writing your abstract.聽

We would also be delighted if you would like to submit a photo with your application to help illustrate your research journey. This could be of you in a meeting, out on fieldwork, studying in the library or just a snap of your desk covered in mugs of tea and papers - anything that illustrates how you go about your research. There's no obligation to do this but we'd like to聽put together a gallery of images so you can see how other researchers work.聽Please make sure images measure 1920 x 1080 pixels.

If you are interested in submitting a poster for the conference, rather than sharing a presentation detailing your research, these will need to be printed before the day of the conference.

We require all posters to be printed A1 in size, in portrait format and recommend using text no smaller than size 14 font to improve readability.
